ELLIJAY, GA – In regards to FYN’s story earlier today about an alleged murder in the Big Creek Road Area, the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) has issued a public statement about the incident:
On Thursday, July 20, 2017 at approximately 4:00 AM, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation. At approximately 3:30 AM, a 911 call for assistance in reference to a shooting was received by the Gilmer County 911 Center. Deputies responded to a location near River Hill Rd. where they found Charles Patrick Thurman, 26, of Ellijay, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The person responsible for shooting Thurman has been identified. The shooting appears to be the result of a domestic dispute. This investigation is ongoing at this time.

This was a senseless crime and the person/ persons responsible for his death should be punished according to the fullest extent of the law cause they have disrupted and destroyed a LOT of life's and also took the life of a very sweet and loving young man
a witness stated the shooter shot up in the air to try to stop s fight and the deceased shot back at the shooter at his feet. Then the shooter returned fire stricking the decease killing him. We need to learn guns are not the answer. Thats why many think they should be illegal.
Many studies by psychologists have revealed that "eye witness" testimony is the least credible evidence. Many people have witnessed the same event and their versions of the event contradicted each other. Moreover, memories change over time. What a person says a week after an event may be totally different than what the person says two years after the same event. That is why physical and impartial evidence is critical to solve a case.

No one has been charged with murder, manslaughter, etc. I would like to know more about the GBI investigation.
