Mr. Jay W. Taunton, age 63 of Cherry Log died Saturday August 5, 2017.

Mr. Taunton was born March 26, 1954, in Upson County the son of Melissa Kennedy Taunton and the late Henry Marlin Taunton He retired from the US Army after 20 years and worked in the textile industry.

Survivors include: wife Kay Taunton, sons; Bryan Trulock, Denver, CO, Keith, Jason and Joseph Taunton all of Cherry Log, grandchildren; Brianna, Jacob and Kaylee Taunton, mother; Melissa Taunton, Thomaston, brother; Jackie Taunton, Thomaston, sister; Penny Maddox, Thomaston, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with interment to follow at 2:00pm in the Georgia National Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army.

The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
