Mr. James Quenton Miller Sr. 92 years old of, Ellijay, formerly of Norcross, passed away September 26, 2017 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Mr. Miller was born June 11, 1925, in Gilmer County, the son of John A. Miller and Lela Gibson Miller of Boardtown Road.
Upon graduation from Ellijay High School, he went to work in Atlanta and attended evening college at the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia, which is now Georgia State University. He met his wife, Anne Smith Miller, and they were married March 5, 1947.
Mr. Miller was General Manager and Secretary/Treasurer for E.R. Partridge, Inc., Atlanta, for forty years until his retirement in 1988. He and his wife moved to Ellijay in 1990, living on the Miller family farm where he was born.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His hobby was gardening: growing beautiful flowers, shrubs and vegetables.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son James Q. Miller, Jr.; grandson Brian James Miller; father John A. Miller; mother Lela G. Miller; and brothers Johnny O. Miller and Jack K. Miller.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anne Miller; son and daughter-in-law Michael G. Miller and Sylvia Elliott of Winterville; sister-in-law Mildred T. Miller of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11;00am at the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Hayden officiating. Music by Rev. Scott Eaton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00am until 11:00am.
Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant (Buckhorn) Church cemetery on Boardtown Road, under the direction of Bernhardt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Ellijay Building Fund, 164 Dalton Street, Ellijay, Ga. 30540.
