Mr. William “Frank” Franklin Burns, age 80 of Ellijay, GA passed Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at the Gilmer Nursing Home.
Mr. Burns was born October 21st, 1937 in Salem, Massachusetts to his late parents James Clifford Burns, Sr. and Myrtie R. Chamberlain Burns. He graduated from Beverly High School and attended the University of Miami. Frank was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, served honorably in the United States Naval Reserve, and retired from Northwest Airlines after 39 years of service as an airplane mechanic. He is preceded in death by his previous wife, Suzanne Hull Burns, sister, Kathy Burns Gill and brother, James Clifford Burns, Jr.
Suvivors include his wife of 14 years, Alice England Burns of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Pamela Burns Brown of Conyers, GA and Allison and David Lawler of Covington, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Christie Burns of Conyers, GA, Brian and Tasha Jones of Lilburn, GA, and Chris and Geri Jones of Atlanta, GA; Nine grandchildren; Five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family memorial service is being planned and will be held at a later date. Graveside inurnment will follow at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Eddie Ellington, 1841 Boardtown Road, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Burns.
