Bobcats Take Region Victory over Lafayette
Team FYN Sports March 23, 2018
The Bobcats made the long drive to Lafayette High School on Wednesday to face the Ramblers in game one of a three game region series. With the weather cold and the wind chills colder, the Bobcats bundled up and took the field vying for their second win in the region for the 2018 season.
The bats were slow for both the Ramblers and the Cats with neither team producing
much offense through most of the game. The game remained scoreless through 4 innings with the Cats coming the the plate in the top of the fifth. Hunter Bowyer would lead off the inning with a walk to get the offense started for Gilmer. The Bobcats bats came alive with all 9 in the line up contributing to an 11 run inning, McKinley Chadwick plated three RBI”s on his second home run of the 2018 season and Hunter Bowyer and Tyler Woody plated two RBI”s each. Other Bobcats standouts were Eric Turner, Evan Frady and Will Barnes.
Brooks Rosser, who will attend Truett McConnell College next year, pitched a gem on
the hill. Rosser allowed 3 hits, 6 strikeouts and kept the Ramblers off the board in a 5 inning complete game. With help from excellent defense, the cats took a 11-0 mercy rule victory giving the Cats game one of the big region series.
The Bobcats will welcome the Ramblers to Bobcat Field on Friday for games two and three in double header action. Game one is set for a 5 pm start time with game two schedule shortly after.
