Bobcat Tennis Takes Win On Senior Night

Team FYN Sports

The Bobcat tennis team hosted the Southeast Whitfield Raiders on Tuesday in yet another region match up.  This night was also a special time for two senior Cats as they grow closer to finishing their high school careers.

Seniors Katie Marick and Katie Sheahan with Coach Donna Parks

Before the teams took the courts, Coach Donna Parks brought two very special ladies front and center to be recognized for their dedication and hard work for Bobcat tennis.  Katie Marick and Katie Sheahan, both seniors have played all four years of their high school careers and have set a benchmark for those on the team after they leave.  Katie M. and Katie S., who are more commonly known as Katie Squared when they were doubles partners have competed well and made the Bobcat Nation proud.

Coach parks highlighted a few of the girls favorite memories on the court and stated “These young ladies have been a constant for the team.  They are always giving 100% and are there for their teammates both newer and older. I have truly enjoyed seeing their growth.  Not just on the court in tennis but in their personal lives as well.  They will be truly missed!

In Tuesday’s competition, The Cats take the overall victory(7-3) compiling both the Girls and Boys scores.  The girls take the win with a score of 4-1 by way of Lauren Cole(6-2,6-2), Senior Katie Sheahan(6-0,6-2), Hope Colwell(6-4,7-5) all with wins in singles action.  In doubles, Senior Katie Marick and Sarah Sheahan took the win 6-2,6-0.  Taking a tough lose in a pro8 set were Josie Reece and Bethany Burnette.

Carter Hice

Carter Hice got things started off for the boys and setting the stage for a team win taking his opponent down in straight sets 6-0 and 6-3.  Others would follow his lead and battle for the victories.  In singles, Brett Becker with the win at 6-1 and 6-0 and Tripp Pierce winning 6-0 and 6-0.  Doubles action wasn’t so kind to the Bobcats with Luke Wimpy/Mason Haden falling 0-6 and 3-6.  Also, Kaden Reece/ Rylan Cochran fell short at 3-6 and 0-6.

These wins for the Bobcats have them sitting in second place as they prepare to enter the Region tournament that starts in early April.  Coach Parks is excited for her players in the tournament and looks for good things to play out.
