Bobcats Take Tough Loss At Home

Team FYN Sports

The Gilmer Bobcats hosted the Bruins of Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday in a big region game.  The Cats coming off a week where they took two out of three from a good Lafayette team were looking to continue the hot streak.  The pregame festivities included the Clear Creek Middle School baseball team being recognized on first base line.(See image below)

Taking the mound for the Bobcats was Senior Brooks Rosser who pitched another gem.  Rosser gave up only one hit to the Bruins over 7 innings and recorded 6 strikeouts.  The Bruins would leave their mark on the scoreboard in the third inning of play scoring 3 times.  Rosser would not allow any more hits or runs but it proved enough for the Bruins.

Despite out hitting the Bruins four hits to one, the Cats managed to plate one run in the first by way of a lead off double by short stop Evan Frady.  Hunter Bowyer would fly out for the first out setting up Tyler Woody for the RBI opportunity.  Woody laced a single past a diving Bruin Shortstop to score Frady.  Woody was thrown out trying to stretch  a double and get in scoring position for the second out of the inning.

Shortstop Evan Frady

The Cats crossed the plate again in the sixth inning that started with an Evan Frady walk. Frady advanced to second on a hard hit ball by Bowyer that was mishandled by the Bruin infielder.  On the next pitch Frady stole third putting himself ninety feet from crossing the plate.  McKinley Chadwick hit into a fielder’s choice pushing Frady across the plate for the final run of the night for the Bobcats.

Stan out offensively for the Cats were Evan Frady who went 1-2 with a walk and two runs scored, Tyler Woody 1-2 with an RBI and McKinley Chadwick 1-3 with an RBI.  The Defensive star has to Brooks Rosser going seven strong innings.  Rosser threw one hunderd five pitches with sixty-five of those being strikes, three earned runs on one hit.  Another great outting by Rosser though he had no run support from the Bobcat bats.

The Cats will travel to the home of the Bruins of Northwest Whitfield on Wednesday starting at 5:30 pm.  The game was originally scheduled for Thursday bu trescheduled due to the possibility of inclement weather.
