Betty Lee Wishon Jones: Obituary

Mrs. Betty Lee Wishon Jones, age 80 of Ellijay, GA passed on Sunday morning, July 29th, 2018 at the Clay County Care Center of Hayesville, NC.

Mrs. Jones was born May 24th, 1938 in Ellijay, GA to her late parents, Eli McKinley Wishon and Effie Arminda Key Wishon.  She was a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1956. Betty was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and retired from the Gilmer County School System where she worked in food preparation. She loved working with her flowers and in her garden. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Richard Jones, sisters, Denia Newton, Edith Newton and Willie Allen, and brothers, Warren, Clay and Herbert Wishon.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & Gary Hyde of Ellijay, GA and Cathy & Chris Brooks of Clarkesville, GA, Carla & Phil Davis of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Kevin & Kelly Hyde, Amanda & Sgt 1st Class Joshua Cantrell, Elizabeth Davis and Mac Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 from the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Hensley, Rev. Jamie Kerr and Rev. Adam Banks officiating. Music and singing will be by the Salem Baptist Church Choir. Graveside interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Kevin Hyde, Joshua Cantrell, Jerry Wishon, Ronnie Wishon, Billy Newton and Mitchell Newton serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Monday, July 30th, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home.
