Emotional Day In Loss To Rebels Of Fannin

The Gilmer Lady Cats traveled to Fannin High School for a tri-match with the Rebels and Dragons on Thursday of last week.  In a very emotional moment the Rebel band came to the gym to help honor Larry Walker.  Walker(Principle of Gilmer Middle School) passed after a tragic accident on the previous Saturday. The Rebels played a stirring rendition of the gospel song Sweet Sweet Spirit to honor Mr. Walker.  The opponents of Gilmer also honored Walker by wearing Purple hair ribbons to show support of the Gilmer Community.

The match against the Dragons had the ballers of Gilmer fighting hard to get the win in 2 straight games with scores of 27-25 and 25-16.  Getting it done for the Lady Cats were

ACES: DAyton-3, Colewell-2, Burnette, MaryLee Callihan and Emma Callihan had 1 each.

KILLS: Dayton and Elly Callihan with 5 each, MaryLee Callihan, Burnette and Emma Callihan each had 1

The Lady Cats varsity didn’t fair as well against a strong Lady Rebels team.  Fannin took a 2 games to none match win over Gilmer.  Scores for the games were 22-25 and 21-25.  Stats for th games were
