In a special called meeting on Monday afternoon, the Gilmer County Board of Education unanimously voted to approve the hiring of Kevin Saunders as the new head coach of the Gilmer Bobcats.

Saunders coached previously at Pebblebrook High School in Cobb County, where he was at the helm for 4 years. During his stint with the Falcons Saunders had 20 wins and 3 straight playoff appearances in the 7-A classification. With over 30 years of being on the sidelines, Coach Saunders has compiled a 158-84-2 record with schools from Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia including a Virginia State Championship in 2011.  Kevin Saunders is dedicated to off-season conditioning to keep his players ready to compete in the fall.  On the offensive side of the ball, he has run both the Spread and the Wing-T with the defense maintaining a 3-5 scheme.

In the interview below, Saunders said he will play the best players in each position and looks forward to meeting the Bobcat players on Tuesday the 18th of December.  Congratulations Coach on becoming the new Head Coach of the 2019 Gilmer Bobcats!
