Herbert Mathews

December 1, 1941 – March 5, 2019

Mr. Herbert Mathews age 77 of Ellijay, GA died Tuesday March 5, 2019.

Mr. Mathews was born December 1, 1941 in Pickens County the late George David and Lillie Mae Childers Mathews. Mr. Mathews worked in the logging industry and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Claude, Cliff and Hubert Mathews; sisters, Dorothy Grizzle, Pauline Crook and Marcell Freeman.

Survivors include: brothers and sister in-law, James Lloyd Mathews, of Jasper and Steve and Peggy Mathews, of Ellijay; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Friday March 8th at 11am from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Ledford and Rev. James Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Thursday March 7th from 4pm until 9pm at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Bernhardt Funeral Home to help with final funeral expenses.
