EAST ELLIJAY, Ga. – The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest this week of a local resident on charges of embezzlement and theft.
The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office Incident Report states, “using a business credit card for personal use, changing deposit slips and keeping the rest of the cash before making the deposits at the bank, ordering items off of Amazon for personal use and turning in the receipts as office supplies.”
The report initially states that the total amount reached $187,000. However, in the same report, this number is later amended saying, “As of 8/29/2019, the initial amount has increased to over $301,000.”
The investigation is still continuing into this incident. According to a Sheriff’s Office representative, Baker has bonded out since her arrest. Sheriff’s files indicate Baker will face these allegations in Superior Court.
