The Gilmer Lady Cats  (3-0, 1-0 in region) and the Lumpkin County Indians (2-5, 0-1 in region) both squared off in their first region matchup against one another on Tuesday August 19th in Gilmer County.

Lumpkin County found themselves watching a pitchers dual until late in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Gilmer finally struck pay-dirt, tacking on 2 runs and taking a 2-0 lead.

The Indians were able to fight back with a 2 run homerun from their do it all third baseman, as she took a pitch deep off of Gilmers Isabella Chastain and tied the ball game back up heading into the bottom of the 6th inning.

The game was tight, tied at two to two, headed into the bottom of the 6th inning until Left Fielder Jocelyn Birko doubled on the first pitch she saw in the at bat and drove in the go ahead run. Isabella Chastain started the game in the circle for the Lady Cats, where she only allowed 3 hits through seven innings while striking out ten batters. She was able to nearly sit the Indians down in order in the seventh inning, striking out the first and third batters while giving up a bloop single in between, before getting #19 for the Indians to line out to left fielder Jocelyn Birko, which ended the game and gave the Gilmer Lady Cats their third win of the season and first in region play.

Taylor Elliot was perfect at the plate for Gilmer, going four for four with three Runs Batted In. Elliot and Birko were the only two Lady Cats to record extra base hits in the game.
