After a fantastic regular season, Gilmer was able to secure a home playoff game yesterday as they hosted Ringgold in the first round of the GHSA class AAA playoffs.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned for the Lady Cats, as they lost both games of their double header, falling 6-3 and 9-1.

Gilmer fell behind early and could not catch up in a 6 to 3 loss in the first game of their double header in the first round of the AAA state playoffs.

Ringgold got the offense fired up in the first inning with a homerun. They then scored three runs in the fifth inning.

Isabella Chastain took the loss in the first game for Gilmer. She lasted seven innings while allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out seven and walking zero.

Taylor Elliot was the bright spot in the Lady Cats offense, blasting a homer in the second inning.

In the second game of the double header, Gilmer hung in until the very end, ultimately falling 9-1.

The second game was way closer than the score shows, as the game was tied at one with Ringgold batting in the bottom of the fourth, when Ringgold laid down a sacrifice bunt and took the lead and never looked back.

Ringgold tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth innings too, which is why the score seems so far out of reach.

Zoey Woody took the loss for Gilmer on the mound. She surrendered eight runs on nine hits over five and a third innings while striking out two and walking zero.

Macy Hamby was the lone bright spot for the Lady Cats offense in game two, going three for three at the plate.
