Ellijay, Ga- In last weeks 3 game series with the West Hall Spartans, the Gilmer Bobcats came away with a clean 3-0 sweep, defeating West Hall 12-9, 9-8 and 6-5.

Game One

During Mondays opening series game, the Bobcats relied on some late inning heroics to get the victory. After West Hall hung 5 runs in the 5th inning, Gilmer was looking at a 9-5 deficit, but thanks to an Austin Zabala single in the top of the 6th, Gilmer was able to tie the game up and gave themselves a chance heading into the final frame. Branson Teague then drove in 3 runs in the top of the 7th, and the Cats were able to come away with a 12-9 win. Carter Jones was the winning pitcher, allowing 1 hit and 1 run over 1 and 2/3rds innings. Grant Cochran earned the save for Gilmer out of the pen, recorded the final 3 outs of the game on the mound.

Game Two

Another big 6th inning allowed Gilmer to come away victorious in game 2, as a Carter Jones single scored Austin Zabala and Gilmer took a 9-8 lead. Seth Darling would then toss a scoreless 7th inning and the Bobcats secured the 9-8 win. Austin Zabala was the winning pitcher for the purple, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 4 over 2 innings.

Game Three

The late innings runs came from West Hall in this one, but Gilmer had built up enough of an early lead that they were still able to hold on and get a 6-5 win and complete the sweep. Seth Darling toed the rubber for the Cats and got the W, going 5 and 2/3rds innings and 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out 13. Carter Jones came on in relief out of the pen and was credited with the save.
