GILMER COUNTY, Ga. In Feb. 2022, Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release stating that unidentified human remains had been discovered in Gilmer County.
Tuesday, April 11, 2023, the public was notified that those remains are belong to Terry Christopher “T.C.” Cantrell, age 50, of Gilmer County.
Last year when the remains were discovered, the sheriff’s office stated the remains were located by a utility company lineman crew at approximately 4:00 a.m. The locations was said to be “in a wooded area just off of Hudson-Martin Road.”
Sheriff Nelson stated that the remains were complete and not missing any major parts and he confirmed that the remains were found above ground, not buried.

Although the remains were identified, a cause of death has still not been released.
The statement issued by the sheriff’s office stated “autopsy results are pending all other information.”
