Fire Fighter Eric Maddox Passes Away

It is with great sorrow that Gilmer County Fire Rescue announces the sudden passing of Fire Fighter Eric Maddox. Eric Maddox was a 10 year veteran of Gilmer County Fire Rescue. He was an outstanding firefighter, a beloved father, grand father, and a friend to everyone he met. He brought smiles and laughter to every shift he worked with our department. His absence will forever leave a void in the heart of those who knew him. Those who never met Eric Maddox will never know the depths of his character and joy for life.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Maddox family as they process this huge loss within their family. We are here for you day or night if you need anything. Gilmer County has lost a great citizen, friend, and a local legend. Rest easy my friend, we will take it from here.
