GILMER COUNTY, Ga. – The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that earlier today, a body was found floating in the river.
Captain Frank Copeland stated that last night, around 8:30 p.m., a 23-year-old male was reported missing by his mother.
“She was concerned about his well being due to an undisclosed issue,” Captain Copeland said.
According to GCSO, around 2:30 p.m. today, ‘passersby walking along the bridge on South Main Street saw a body floating in the water near the bridge.’
911 was called and units responded, subsequently he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Captain Copeland stated that the case is still under investigation and is unable to release any other information at this time.
UPDATE:
GCSO released a statement confirming that the body located in the river on Sunday, October 29th, is that of Joshua Ethan Schramm, age 23.
Schramm’s body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for further testing.
