Student identified and removed from Gilmer County school after writing disturbing threats

GILMER COUNTY, Ga. – Gilmer County Schools System released a statement to information parents and guardians of a disturbing threat to the school that was discovered this morning.

According to the school, the threat was a message that was found to be written on the wall of a Gilmer County middle school bathroom.

After an investigation by staff and school Resource Officers, one student has been identified and apprehended.

The investigation and student have now been handed to the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office for potential prosecution.

“The Gilmer County Schools takes any threat to the safety of its students and/or staff seriously. We are prepared to thoroughly investigate any concerns, apply school level discipline and prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law. We encourage everyone to stay vigilant and report behavior that could potentially threaten the safety and security of the Gilmer County Schools to administrators immediately.”
