The basic requirements for being awarded the FCA Wrestler of The Year are:

- The wrestler is a committed Christian who has maintained a consistent Christian witness to their teammates.
- The wrestler maintains at least a 2.5 GPA. (The better the GPA, the better is his / her chance of winning the award.)
- The wrestler is a varsity wrestler. (They do not have to be a state champion, just someone who has worked hard, and been a solid contributor to their program over the years.)
The selection committee for FCA Wrestler of The Year is composed of FCA Wrestling-Georgia Board members and other persons of influence in the Georgia wrestling community.
In winning the award, Schiesser was also granted a $1,000 scholarship to help further her education.
5 months post knee surgery, Taylor Schiesser finished her senior season as a Gilmer Bobcat as the 235lb State Runner-up with a 15-2 record. Schiesser’s second-place finish at the GHSA State Championship was her fourth time placing at State, making her the only 4 time state placer in Gilmer Women’s Wrestling history.
