In the first round of the GHSA AAA state football playoffs, the North Hall Trojans defeated the Gilmer Bobcats by a score of 21-14 to advance to the Sweet 16 round this coming Friday.

The Bobcats fought tooth and nail to try and pull off the upset of the fifth seeded Trojans, and even had their chance to win the game at the end of regulation. The Bobcats had the football in Trojan territory and lined up to kick the game winning field goal, but the attempt was no good and North Hall ended up winning the game with an overtime touchdown.

The Trojans will be back at home on Friday to take on the Upson-Lee Knights.

Gilmer wraps up the 2024 season with a 5-6 overall record, including a 3-3 record in region play.
