PRESS RELEASE – Gilmer County has procured a Cooling Center for those folks without the means to avoid the extreme heat forecasted for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (July 28, 29, & 30).

The Center will be the old Ellijay Primary School gym, 196 McCutchen St. (across from the First United Methodist Church and just before Harrison Park).

Thank you to our Board of Education for offering their facility during this heat wave.

The doors will open at noon and close at 6:00 PM each day. Visitors should bring a chair, some non-alcoholic hydration, and something to read. The school property is unable to accept pets.
