Two Injured in Explosion at Roo Mountain Vineyards in Ellijay, Georgia

ELLIJAY, Ga. — An explosion at Roo Mountain Vineyards, located on Old Flat Branch Road in Gilmer County, has left two people injured and airlifted to a burn center, officials confirmed Friday morning.

According to the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded to the incident around 11:30 a.m. upon reports of a commercial fire and explosion.

By the time first responders arrived, the fire had already been extinguished and the gas supply secured, allowing the scene to be quickly brought under control.

Additional units en route were canceled to prioritize needed resources.

Fire marshals and state fire inspectors have been notified and are investigating the cause of the explosion.

Roo Mountain Vineyards has built a reputation as a premier destination in North Georgia’s winery circuit.

Authorities have not yet released the identities or conditions of the two individuals injured. Meanwhile, neighbors and locals remain on edge amid the investigation, especially given the vineyard’s popularity as a venue for live music, private events, and social gatherings in comfortable, scenic surroundings.
