The Gilmer Lady Bobcats hosted the White County Warriors in a losing effort that was a well fought for victory by the Warriors. The Lady Bobcats were down by as many as 14, before staging a fourth quarter that saw them fall just short of victory 38-34.The Lady Bobcats began the game with a 7-4 run that had them in front for most of the first quarter. The Warriors, however, used runs of their own to take a 8-7 lead into the second quarter, and a 18-12 lead into the half, after both teams spent the majority of the second quarter baking turnovers like a pastry chef.

The crowd was treated to a half time perfomance by the Gilmer High School Drumline and Winter Guard.

The Lady Bobcats, led by Sarah Lambert, who had a game high 12 points, were unable to keep possession of the ball. As they continued to give the ball away to the Lady Warriors who scored 10 points in the quarter before the Lady Bobcats broke their scoring drought with two free throws by Lambert. By the end of the quarter the Lady Bobcats were down 12 and had only scored eight points in the period.

The Lady Bobcats seemed to save their best effort for the last quarter as they held the Lady Warriors to six points in the quarter while scoring 14. The home team was down 36-25 with just over three and half minutes left in the game, before a 9-0 run made the score 36-34 with 1:28 left in the game.

The Lady Warriors did thier best to keep the home team’s dream alive by missing on the front end of three consecutive one and ones, before scoring a late basket to make the final score of 38-34.
