The Boys and Girls Club gave a presentation at the Gilmer County BOC’s regular meeting Thursday night. Jan Day spoke to the Board and to the citizens of Gilmer County thanking them for the use of the Civic Center. The space has been especially helpful to the Club and Jan stated that “it provides a place for children who would go home to an empty house.” Hopefully they will be able to serve up to 120 kids.

Two of the children from the club were also at the meeting and voiced their “thank you” and then presented the Board of Commissioners with thank you cards that were hand drawn by the children. The card presentation by the children was very touching as they handed them to the Commissioners. Commissioner Will Beattie expressed he would like to find a way to display the thank you cards to the citizens of Gilmer County.
