Mr. Vance J. Murray, 89 died peacefully at home on Friday, August 19, 2011.He was born in Limestone TN, son of John H. Murray and Ida B. Murray. He lived his childhood in eastern TN, before joining the CCC as a young man. He then moved to Cliffside, NC for a while before moving to Indiana in the middle 1940’s.

Mr. Murray worked for Warner Gear division of Borg Warner Corporation. After retirement he and his longtime sweetheart wife moved to Haines City, FL for several years before locating in Ellijay, GA for the past 15+ years. He was a member of Mountaintown Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Johnson Murray.

Survivors include: Sons and daughters-in-law: John B. and Jane Murray, Ellijay, GA, Jeffrey A. and Linda Murray, Douglasville, GA, Joe Murray, Ellijay, GA; 4 Grandchildren: John M. Murray & wife Kimberly, Tucson, AZ, Jennifer M. Shimizu & husband Dean, Yuma, AZ, Sky A. Kronz and husband Jason, Nampa, ID, Crystal E. Murray & husband Greg Payne, Douglasville, GA; 8 Great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Jack Murray, Phenix City, AL, Max Murray and Eugene Murray both of Greenville, TN; 3 sisters: Jewel Hughes and Jo Ann Ward, both of Greeneville, TN, Wanda Graham, Gray, TN.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 23, 2011 at 2pm from the Mountaintown Baptist Church with Rev. John Bramlett and Rev. Edmund Miller officiating.

The body will lie in state from 1:30 pm until 2pm at the Church.

Interment will be held in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Monday, August 22 from 5pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mountaintown Baptist Church @ 510 Mountaintown Rd. Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Murray.
