Mr. Walter Lewis Smith age 76 of Ellijay died Wednesday March 27, 2013.

Mr. Smith was born on February 21, 1937 in Gilmer Co. He is the son of the late John Benton Smith and Carra Maude Mulkey Smith. He was a painter, a longtime gospel music singer and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Mother of Children: Bennetta Smith, Ellijay; Son & daughter-in-law: Tony & Mary Smith Chatsworth; Daughters & sons-in-law: Gail & Carl Johnson, NC, Christy & Ricky Blaylock, Gainesville, GA Sisters & brothers-in-law: Ouida Simmons, Decatur, GA, Lola & R.L. Presley, Dalton, Mary & Andrew Whitey, Hendersonville, TN; 5 Granddaughters: Rene Smith, Benton, TN, Jessica Eckels, Blue Ridge, GA, Little Miss Shayla Blaylock, Gainesville, GA, Melissa Duggan, Ellijay, Amanda Totton, Fort Riley, KS; 10 Great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 30, 2013 at 2pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Elton Horton & Rev. Russell Burt officiating

Interment will be in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday March 29th from 4pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt funeral Home.
