Raising close to $3000 from the Purses for Paws event, the Homeward Bound Pet Rescue pulled in over 50 residents from around Ellijay, Delrey Beach in Florida, and Tuscaloosa in Alabama.

275 animals have found a home through Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in the last 12 months. Fund raisers like Purses for Paws, an event from the minds of Beth Bennett and Crystal Nadolski of Painter Tax in Ellijay, are the reason they have achieved these 275 animals.

If you missed it, make sure to head downtown to the thrift store just off the square to continue supporting this program and to hear ideas that will be coming for “an even bigger and better Purses For Paws Auction 2016” according to Ernie Taylor, a Homeward Bound Pet Rescue volunteer and one of the main brains behind managing these events.

Events like these and the thrift store not only help to find homes for these animals, but also fund the support they offer as they help people in great need, for example if an elderly person can’t quite afford all the dog food needed for their animal or the discount coupons you can pick up at the thrift store for spay and neuter assistance.

The program is so desperate for more volunteers, and yet these people maintain no matter what. Dedicating supplies, time, foster homes, attention, and so much more combine to create a rescue program that not only performs its non-profit duties to support its cause, but also digs deep into the volunteers hearts to bring something forward that exceeds any idea of standards or expected effort.

To see these people in action, to stop for a moment and watch the way the dedicate themselves to these animals. It’s almost like watching a movie sometimes, four letters and calling it love can seem so insufficient to describe what these people do.
