Jackson McVey Breaks School Scoring Record Previously Held By His Dad

Sports, Team FYN Sports, TeamFYNSports

Ellijay, GA- For the past few decades, Patrick McVey has held the single-game scoring record at Gilmer County High School. The record seemed untouchable until last night, when his son Jackson dropped 45 points in a 79-66 Gilmer win over Sonoraville. Jackson now has bragging rights over his old man, at least in this category.

The 7-footer showed out last night against Sonoraville draining threes and throwing down dunks, but last night wasn’t just a one-off. McVey has been putting up numbers all year, averaging a double-double in points and rebounds through the Bobcat’s first 11 games. The 45 point performance came a few days after a 35-point, 12-rebound performance vs White County last Friday.

Just a Sophomore, McVey is ranked as the number 1 Center in Georgia for the class of 2025, and is sure to be on many Division-1 recruits radars.

As for the Bobcats, they are sitting at 8-3 on the year and 2-2 in Region 7AAA play.
