Parasail Crash

News

Two unidentified men from Alaska were flying a parasail with a motorized tricycle setup when engine failure caused the parasail to crash land at the Gilmer County Airport on Monday November 7 around 5:30 pm.

Eyewitnesses stated that the first take off and landing were without complications, but when the two men reached a low altitude after a second takeoff, the engine failed and the parasail fell to the ground and down an embankment beside the runway. The embankment is at a 75 degree angle and is about 30 feet to the bottom. The two men escaped injury, but the parasail tricycle suffered extensive frame damage. An eyewitness stated that there was still wind in the sail, and that this might be the reason that the landing wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Emergency vehicles and authorities arrived at the scene after a 911 call was placed.
