Eugene P. Rivers age 78 of the New Hope Community of Ellijay passed from this life Thursday, April 12th, 2012 from the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay, a graduate of Spaulding County High School, class of 1955. He received his B.S. Degree from Georgia Tech, class of 1963. Mr. Rivers served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was an industrial engineer, employed as plant manager with Dundee Mills.

Survivors include wife of 52 years, Elene Mashburn Rivers of the home in Ellijay. daughter; Sally Lillian Rivers of Atlanta, GA, son and daughter-in-law; Eugene Phillip and Gina Rivers of King George, VA, grandchildren; Grace, Faith, Noah, Hope, Joy, Glory, Isaiah and Daniel Rivers.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, April 15th, 2012 from the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay. Officiating will be Pastor David Smedley and Rev. Harden Hopper, music and song will be performed by Bill McVey and Margaret Sharp.

MIlitary interment service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday April 16th, from the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with MIlitary Rites performed by the North georgia Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Griffin, GA.

Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home.
