Mr. Gene Spivey, age 87 of Ellijay, GA passed on Thursday morning, August 27, 2015.

Mr. Spivey was born March 22, 1928 in Punta Gorda, FL son of the late Coy and Rosetta Barber Spivey. Gene served honorably in the Army Air Corps following WWII. He graduated from Lee University with an associates degree and worked as a manager for Davis Brothers Restaurants.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Todd Spivey of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Michael Williams of Ellijay, GA, Pamela Lorentzson of Buford, GA and Susan and David Thiessen of Sugar Hill, GA; Grandchildren Tejae Miller, Joshua Miller, Jonathon Miller, Lauren Lorentzson, Gabriel Lorentzson, Christopher Thiessen, Joseph Thiessen, Jacob Thiessen and Shannon Spivey; 5 Great grandchildren; Sister, Jackie Goff of Tampa, FL also survives.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 5th, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Leftwich officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday September 5th, 2015 from 1 until 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in memory of Mr. Spivey.
