Team FYN Sports December 21, 2010
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats fought tooth and nail, for a game time total of five full quarters of play, only to come up on the wrong end of a 41-38 double overtime thriller. The defensive dominated the day; highlighted by Lady Bobcat, Sarah Lambert’s four blocks, and Lady Mountaineer Megan Spivey’s eight blocks. The game was a fierce back and forth battle between both teams that left the home town Bobcats fans feeling great displeasure with the disproportionate number of free throws between the teams. The Lady Mountaineers attempted 19 more free throws than their counterparts. One woman felt so inclined to tell the referee,
“You’re missing a great game!”

Both teams used a combination of press and zone defenses to stifle their opponents. The Lady Bobcats held slim leads ranging from a low of one, to a high of four at the end of the first three quarters. They had a three point lead with seconds left, when North Murray’s Kaitlyn Lowry hit a three to tie the game 31 all at the end of regulation.
The defense continued to dominate the day with both teams combining for a total of eight points in the first overtime period.
The Lady Mountaineers were able to secure the win with clutch free throws by Abigal Bradley, who led all scorers with 13 points, much to the chagrin of the already incensed home crowd.
