The Gilmer High Lady Bobcats faced a juggernaut in the Douglass County Lady Tigers, and were demolished unceremoniously 75-31, despite a 10 point 6 rebound night from All-Tournament performer Ansley Mulkey.A night after a blow out win at the expense of the Walker Lady Wolverines, the Lady Bobcats were throttled by the Lady Tigers, who along with the Tigers’ boys team, walked away with the team of the tournament award afterward.

The Bobcats had early success with the post game, but had no answer defensively for the Lady Tigers’ high low game, as Douglass County’s Kelly Wells, and Lateria Spriggs combined for 39 points themselves, (19) and (20) respectively.

Spriggs was deadly from beyond the ark from the start of the game, helping her team build a 22-6 lead at the end of the first period. The big lead allowed Douglass County to rest their starters for half the second quarter, as the Douglass County coach was not completely satisfied with his team’s effort. However, the Bobcats were able to hold the bench to one point.

The Lady Tigers’ starters came back in the game and scored five points in 38 seconds. The Lady Tigers ran to a 44-16 half time lead. Spriggs hit a three at the buzzer, that gave her a total of 18 first half points, which were two more than the entirety of the Bobcats team.

The second half was more of the same as the Lady Tigers continued to hit shots from all over the floor while holding the home team scoreless until three minutes were left in the third. The Lady Bobcats were clearly over matched and seemed to give up.

“I don’t care about the scoreboard,” coach Horton yelled at his team.

The Lady Tigers led 65-21 at the end of the third and pulled their starters for the fourth.
