Why does your BOC insist on charging per bag fees for your trash???
Basic Math will discover the Truth.According to National averages every person generates about 4 to 6 pounds of MSW per day….
For Gilmer County this would mean about 30K to 32K tons per year.
@ BOC Meeting I heard a figure of $800k per year for current contract.
30,000 Tons MSW per year @ $30 per Ton = $900,000 per year
30,000 Tons @ 8 lbs per bag = 7,500,000 bags per year
@ $1 per bag = $7,500,000 per year
This is what your BOC wants to charge you for services that will cost the county government about $900,000 per year..
Net effect: $6,600,000 Increase in NEW TAXES per year.

A better solution.
BOC stated at a meeting that there are 35,000 land parcels in Gilmer.
$30 per year per parcel would generate $1,050,000 per year — more than enough to pay for MSW disposal for the county.
The Vote is coming up on this soon. There is a meeting at the Gilmer County Courthouse in the Jury assembly room Thu. , Feb 24 @ 5:30 PM. If you want your voice to be heard and this madness to stop please be there……..
