Gilmer County High School Spirit Week

Uncategorized

This past week as GHS was a wild one! It was spirit week! Each day had a different theme, and everyone dressed up in hilarious outfits. As Friday night approached, GHS students were getting more and more excited about the homecoming game on Friday night against Ridgeland.
Monday’s theme was Tacky Day. Students dressed up in total mismatched and crazy outfits. Different color socks and shoes, layered off the wall colors, and crazy hair, were only a few things students did on Tacky Day to show their GHS Spirit!

Tuesday was Sports Day. Every team you could have imagined was represented in GHS on Tuesday. Everyone wore their favorite team’s colors. Some even chose to wear a team jersey. Whether it be the team colors, or the jersey, you could see GHS’s spirit shining. It was so funny to hear different students joke about each other’s choice in teams, recalling the scores of past games of each team that was chosen.

Wednesday was a very interesting day. It was Twin Day. Students dressed up to look like each other. I recall seeing GHS students wearing shirts that said, “Twin #1,” “Twin #2,” “Twin #3,” “Twin #4” and so on. Even some teachers dressed up! Some people who dressed up truly looked as if they could be related! It was one of the most interesting days in spirit week thats for sure.

Thursday was one of the most participated in days thus far. It was Color Day. Seniors wore black, Juniors wore blue, Sophomores wore red, and Freshman wore yellow. Just about everyone in the school participated in this theme day. Some painted their faces all one color, others, wore ridiculous wigs, and some had what they were wearing all one color. Some did all of that together, and then some! But nothing compares to Friday.

Friday was the final day. Homecoming game day! Everyone dressed in purple, black, and white. You could walk down the hallway and see an ocean of purple. GHS students truly showed all their spirit on this day. People were painted, and wore all kinds of off the wall clothes, all bearing purple, black, or white.

All the spirit paid off on Friday night when we beat Ridgeland. I am so proud of GHS, for showing all of their spirit and pride this week. It inspired everyone, and got everyone pumped and got them ready to support our students and football team no matter what the outcome of the game would be. It brought us together as one, Gilmer County High School.
