Circuit World Gives Back

If you drove by the Circuit World this Saturday and wondered why the parking lot was full of emergency equipment there is no need to worry.Circuit World was simply giving back to our Public Safety Workers for all that they have done in our community.

Locals were able to sign heartfelt messages in the “Thank You” cards for each of the emergency departments.

Thank You cards from local children.

The police shared with individuals how some of their crime scene equipment works. One of the techniques they use to mold footprints is to use Snow Impression Wax. The wax freezes the footprint in place for up to two hours which gives time to analyze the footprint before it melts.
The Gilmer County Fire Department demonstrated fire safety techniques. Fire truck doors were open allowing people to see equipment necessary for extinguishing a fire.

In hopes to recruit volunteers The American Red Cross set up a table. Currently Gilmer County does not have ANY volunteers to provide assistance to those in the county that have suffered from a disaster. Because The Red Cross is not a government agency it relies on donations of time, money and blood to serve a community in its time of need.

Many children in our community rely on The Three Rivers Boys and Girls Club. They are currently looking for individuals to volunteer for the After School Program. Also looking for volunteers is Appalachian CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) which provides trained and supervised volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children that have been abused or neglected.

As the day’s activities wound down it was astonishing to see the amount of people and services it takes to keep our community safe. Hopefully a simple “THANK YOU” to all of our community heroes conveys the outpouring of community appreciation.
