Methamphetamine Dealer Intercepted in Gilmer County

ZMMP DTF Commander Brandon Owens has released information regarding an investigation that has led to trafficking charges. On Monday, November 21, 2011, DTF Agents and Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office deputies intercepted a mid-level methamphetamine dealer in Gilmer County.Sheriff Nicholson and DTF Agents have been receiving information on Jamie Michael Priest for several months detailing a methamphetamine trafficking ring that was responsible for the delivery of multiple ounces of the substance into the county. Specific information was received on the 21st concerning Priest and Johnny William Wright.

Deputies and undercover agents conducted a concentrated patrol of the area around the East Ellijay Wal-Mart. Around 7:00 p.m., the information received by law enforcement was corroborated and deputies and agents moved in to investigate. During the investigation, 52 grams of methamphetamine was found along with a 25-caliber automatic pistol, digital scales, and $816 in cash (pictured). The methamphetamine has an approximate street value of $4,000.

Both Priest and Wright are charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. This investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are possible.
