Rain Causes Major Flooding in Gilmer County

The rain that moved into the Gilmer County area late last night has caused a severe amount of flooding on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Gilmer County is currently under a flash flood warning until noon on Thursday.At the last count, the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office has received word of flooding on Pleasant Valley Road, Old Orchard Road, Avery Lane, Blackberry Mtn. Rd., Misty Valley Lane, Hemlock Lane, Clear Creek Road, Homer Wright Road, Dale’s Spur, Willow Creek Lane, Holt Road, Riverfront Road, and Highway 52 East.

FYN is receiving reports that Highway 52 East may be closed shortly due to extreme water levels on the Cartecay River. We will update the situation once more information becomes available.
