The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team most recently competed in non-region match ups with Ringgold and Chestatee, falling in both. The Lady “Cats” fell to Ringgold 2-1 and to Chestatee in straight sets.Ringgold took the first set (25-18) before the Lady “Cats” claimed the second game, 25-21. Ringgold raked in the third and deciding game, 15-10. Jordan Lucznyski led the Lady “Cats” with three Aces, followed by Emily Reece with two. Brook Simms led with 10 Kills. Emily Sanford was second with four Kills. Brooke Sims led with two blocks. Emily Reece had a whopping 24 Digs, followed by Sanford who finished with 16. Luczynski led with 15 assists.

Head coach, Donna Parks, had this to say about the Ringgold match,

“In the previous match Ringgold handled us pretty easily but this time [we] put up a good fight. In the first game of the match, we started off slow and just could not get back on our feet fast enough for a win. However, in the second game of the match, the girls stepped it up and played some good volleyball. After winning that second game, we had momentum, but a few too many errors ended the match with Ringgold in the winning column.”

The Chestatee match saw the Lady “Cats” fall 25-11 and 25-12. Sims led with two Aces, four Kills, and one Block. Sanford and Reece each had nine Digs. Lucznyski led with three assists.

Parks, broke down the Chestatee match thusly,

“Playing Chestatee in our previous Match of the season, Gilmer stayed pretty close, only losing the match by a few points in each game. This time, we never really got it together to show everyone exactly what we are capable of. Chestatee played a really rushed, fast paced match, something we were not used to but need to be able to deal with.”
