Gilmer High School Lady Cats volleyball senior, Brooke Sims, recently signed a scholarship with Shorter University. Sims played four years of volleyball for the Lady Cats and joins, fellow former Lady Cat, Cheyenne Frady, currently a sophomore on the Lady Hawks squad. Sims will be joining a Lady Hawks team that finished the year 21-6, with an appearance in South Regional of the tournament and a second place finish in the Gulf South Coast Conference after a 2-3 loss to North Alabama in the finals. The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team most recently competed in non-region match ups with Ringgold and Chestatee, falling in both. The Lady “Cats” fell to Ringgold 2-1 and to Chestatee in straight sets. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Pickens High School take on the region rival, Dragonettes. The “Cats” claimed victory with a 2-1 come from behind win over the “Nettes.” The junior varsity squad also won, in straight sets; however, the ninth graders fell 2-1. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team had three players named to the 7-AAAA All-Region Team. Jenna Parks was named to the First Team. Brooke Sims was named to the Second Team. Sarah Lambert was named Honorable Mention.
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Columbus Georgia to take on the Columbus High School Blue Devils in a first round match up in the state tournament. The Lady “Cats,” in the first appearance in the state tournament since 2006, discovered that Columbus, a state champion in 2007, had too much firepower, as Columbus swept the match 3-0, (25-12, 25-4, and 25-10). The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team road to Ringgold for the Region 8-AAAA Tournament at Heritage High School, where the Lady “Cats” clinched a fourth seed in the state tournament, after beating Northwest Whitfield. Previously the Lady “Cats” avoided another catastrophe at the hands of the Catamounts, when Gilmer disposed Dalton, the team that had knocked Gilmer out of the Region Tournament, the three previous years. This is the first trip to the state playoffs for the Gilmer volleyball team since 2006. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team hosted the Dragonettes of region rival, Pickens High School. The Lady “Cats” clipped the “Nettes” at the nets, sweeping both the junior varsity and varsity matches, (25-19, 25-21), and (26-24, 25-15) respectively. In between the JV and varsity matches the Lady “Cats” honored the five graduating seniors: Jenna Parks; Britton Farlow; Sarah Lambert; Darby Herald; and Harmony Malham, in a brief ceremony. (more…)
The Gilmer Lady Cats volleyball team played host to LaFayette High School and Northwest Whitfield. The team played well and looked well-coached, but was only able to win one of the matches. Against LaFayette, Gilmer took the W (25-16(L), 27-25, 25-21) but lost a tough one to the Bruins of NW Whitfield (25-14, 27-25(L), 25-20(L)). (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team, recently traveled to West Hall, with both junior varsity and Varsity teams leaving the Lady Spartans with losses, despite the half the lights dimming during the varsity match. A varsity loss to Athens Christian in three sets followed, briefly before leaving for a Lumpkin High School tournament; there the varsity dropped three of four, with a win over Lakeview. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball teams hosted the Lady Rebels and Rebels of Fannin County. Both teams emerged unscathed as the Lady Bobcats won 41-38 and the Bobcat boys won going away 74-39. (more…)
