Mr. John Henry Davis, age 81 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Wednesday evening, November 26, 2014, at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
Mr. Davis was born April 27, 1933 in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parents Andrew Jackson and Wincie Sluder Davis. He was of the Baptist faith, a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1952, and honorably served in the US Air Force for 22 years during Korea and Vietnam. After retiring, he owned and operated John’s Restaurant in Ellijay.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jewell Green Davis of the home in Ellijay, GA; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Mitch and Margaret Davis of Newnan, GA, Jerry and Iris Davis of Ellijay, GA, Jeff and Margie Davis of Chiefland, FL, and John Jr. and Hester Davis of Marietta, GA; Grandchildren, Elizabeth D. Falkenberg, Justin Davis, Dustin Harper, Hannah Harper, Olivia Davis, Harrison Davis, John Henry Davis III, Julia Davis, Kelly Gore, and Allen Strickland; Great Grandchildren, Maddie Harper, Davis Falkenberg, Wade Gore, Ella Gore, and Ava Jo Strickland; Sister, Dimple Davis Davenport of Ellijay, GA; Brothers, Paul Davis of Ellijay, GA,and Martin Davis of Germany also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 30th, 2014 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edmund Miller and Doug Hall officiating. Music and vocals will be by Scott Eaton. A military graveside service will immediately follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Davis, Dustin Harper, Harrison Davis,John Henry Davis III., Jason Farmer, Chris Farmer and Cole Hall.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, November 29th, 2014 at the Logan Funeral Home.
