“A Christmas Story” at the Gilmer County Library, with Prizes, Food & Fun!

The Gilmer County Library will be showing A Christmas Story, (Thursday, December 11th) at 5:30 but it isn’t just a sit down and watch a movie quietly type of thing. Imagine A Christmas Story meets Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is an interactive movie program. We will have prizes for trivia, reciting lines, best Christmas memory or tradition and more. We will serve refreshments and plan on having a fun evening for all ages. Top 5 Reasons you should attend The Gilmer County Library’s Monthly Movie tomorrow night (Thursday, December 11th) at 5:30:

#5. A Christmas Story. Need we say more? This cult classic Christmas movie is entertaining for the entire family. “Ho, ho, but no matter. Christmas was on its way. Lovely, glorious, beautiful Christmas, upon which the entire kid year revolved.”

#4. Prizes!! Yes, prizes for watching a movie with us. But don’t expect to get a prize for just showing up! We are going to make you work for it. Answer trivia questions about the movie, recite lines with your favorite characters, and every time Ralphie says, “I want an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle” shout out, “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!” If anyone is brave enough to show up in a pink bunny suit, you are guaranteed to get a prize!

#3. “Deck the harrs with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra.” Sing along and experience the joy of creating new holiday traditions when old ones go awry. And be reminded that the holidays are not about perfection, but spending time with loved ones and having fun. Good, wholesome, pretend like you are a kid again, FUN!

#2 Memories! What was your favorite Christmas gift? What was your worst gift (hopefully not a pink bunny suit!)? Your favorite Christmas tradition? Your favorite Christmas food? Share with us some of your best or worst Holiday memories.

#1. Food! We will have hot chocolate, (don’t worry, not Ovaltine) popcorn, cookies and more. We promise that the Bumpuses’ hounds will not ruin our fun like they ruined the Parker’s dinner–“The heavenly aroma still hung in the house. But it was gone, all gone! No turkey! No turkey sandwiches! No turkey salad! No turkey gravy! Turkey Hash! Turkey a la King! Or gallons of turkey soup! Gone, ALL GONE!”
