JDA Entering Negotiations

Progress is continuing with the Joint Development Authority as they look for a permanent Executive Director.

Among the meeting’s approval of minutes and discussion of training at the August 25 meeting, the Board was updated on the Department of Community Affairs acceptance of their registration as an Authority and the required training hours. This was the next step in building the JDA as a legal ‘Bonding Authority.’

As a part of this, the Authority is required to have a notary to notarize the executive session affidavits. This is looking to fall to Secretary-Treasurer Paige Green who is currently becoming a notary-public in order to continue supporting the JDA in her position.

As the meeting entered its final items on the agenda, the Board did move to executive session, after which they returned to open session to make a Motion.

“The Board authorizes Chairman Travis Crouch to enter into negotiations for the hiring of Chuck Scragg on a contract basis to fulfill the Executive Director Position. All Negotiations will come for final approval to the Board.”

These negotiations will consider many conditions of the contract as the JDA is moving to contract Scragg for a period of time. This means Scragg, if contracted, will lay much of the foundation work that the Authority needs as they move forward. However, he will not be the permanent Executive Director and the Board continues to seek the person to fill that position.
