Earlier today, December 22nd at approximately 1:45pm authorities responded to an accident on Hwy 52 in Gilmer.  A  tractor trailor traveling west into town ran off the road and lost control.  The back of the truck went over the guard rail and according to East Ellijay Chief Larry Callahan it was close to going into the river.

The truck was able to come back onto the road and avoid the river.  However the accident resulted in spilled pallets which closed the road for an hour and a half.  There weren’t any injuries or any other vehicles involved in the accident.
