This week’s theme is “Playful Penguins” January’s story themes are all about the cold bite of winter. All ages welcome. Story time and LapSit are excellent ways to strengthen your children’s literacy skills, and all stories are always followed by a simple craft you can complete with your child.

Come be entertained as we tell the story of “How the Bear Lost Its Tail” through the magic of Join us for a Winter themed puppet show which is followed by a simple craft. Kids 9 and under with adult supervision please.

Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, January 20 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! It’s OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color.  If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color. This is a “drop in when you can” event.

Have you ever thought of selling items on Etsy but was just unsure of the basics to using Etsy? Come join us for a few quick lessons. Please contact the library for signup info. An active library card is required.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Winter is a wonderful time to take up a new craft or crafting project.  Learn to knit, crochet, quilt, or build bird houses.  The Bookshelf has beautifully illustrated craft books for every interest, all in excellent condition and very well priced.

 

Take a look at the “last chance” shelves where our inventory of half-priced books is refreshed weekly.  You can put your payment for these books in the donations box if the Bookshelf is closed.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
