Gilmer Swimmers Ready for State

The Gilmer High School swim team will be sending eight swimmers to the 2015-16 Georgia High School Association state swim meet.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Landon Bryan, Evan Minter, David Brown and James Maxwell qualified for state with a time of one minute, 39 and one-hundredth of a second (1:39.01) in that event.

Brown is also qualified in four individual events: the 100-yard butterfly (with his qualifying time clocking in at 55 and 39-hundredths of a second ((55.39))), the 100-yard backstroke (59.63), the 100-yard freestyle (51.30) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.48).

The freestyle relay team of Leila Farist, Grace Pleasant, Rowe Fowler and Kaylin Woodring qualified for state in both the 200 and 400-yard events, with respective times of 1:50.14 and 4:10.50.

The state meet will be held Friday, at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
