Join us for this week’s story “Chasing Butterflies” All ages welcome. Both Story Time and LapSit are excellent ways to strengthen your children’s literacy skills, and all stories are always followed by a simple craft you can complete with your child.
Georgia STEM Day

Stop in anytime this Friday! Using only cups, blocks, and craft sticks who can build the tallest structure? Can you even beat the library staff entry? If you can, you get a prize and a grand prize goes to the overall winner.
Mother’s Day Movie – Cinderella
Saturday, May 7 @ 2:00 PM
Happy Mother’s Day! Bring your little princes and princesses (and your Kings, too) to the library to watch Disney’s new live-action movie, “Cinderella”. Come early to work on crafts and activities before the movie starts. Movie is Rated PG. Kids 9 and under with adult supervision, please.

Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, May 4 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! Its OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color. This is a “drop in when you can” event.
Master Gardener Series – Plant Propagation
Thursday, May 5 @ 6:00 PM
Learn the basic ways to propagate new plants from existing plant materials: which plants are good to use, how and when to propagate them, care, and replanting. We’ll have a hands-on portion where people can start a plant (most like forsythias, dead easy) and take it home. Light refreshments, etc.
The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Calling all Civil War buffs! The Bookshelf is happy to offer another interesting collection on the Civil War including large map books, unusual titles, and general reference books. You’ll find something for yourself or for a gift.
Thinking of donating books to the library? Do it now! The newer the books, the more likely they are to be added to the library’s collection. They will also be welcome at the Bookshelf and appreciated by our customers.
