The 2016 Summer Reading Program (SRP) started 5/20/2016 and concludes 7/29/2016. SRP is for all age groups not just children. GCL will host fun, exciting events and programs for all ages throughout this summer. Check our Facebook page for details.
*Beginning July 1, 2016, GCL’s new operating hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 9AM-6PM. Operating hours on Mondays thru Thursdays will remain from 9AM-8PM.

Move-It Mondays – Dance Party
School-age kids can get their wiggles out by joining us for our Move-It Monday series. This week we will be playing Dance Party. No experience required or expected. Just come out and have fun.

Teen Book Club Movie – The Maze Runner
This month’s book is The Maze Runner by James Dashner. After the movie, there will be a very brief discussion about the book versus the movie. Free refreshments!
Lego Robotics

Create, build, control and play with LEGO Robotics. This program is for ages 9-14. Registration is required. Call 706-635-4528 to register. This program is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to Georgia Public Library Service under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.

Creed – The former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed. Light refreshments will be offered.

Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, July 13 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! Its OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color. This is a “drop in when you can” event.
Hiking Amicalola

Ranger Heather Wilson from Amicalola Falls State Park will discuss what it’s like to hike through and around the state park and other activities you can enjoy at the lovely state park.
The Friends of the Library Bookshelf
FOGL sells gently used books and magazines in The BookShelf. Most books are priced at $2 or less. All book sale proceeds directly benefits the Gilmer County Library through new book purchases and program funding.
