It is that time again. The kids are heading back to school! While I am sure some would say it’s too soon, most parents and students are ready to be back into their routine. Gilmer County’s students go back to school on Friday, August 4th. Ninth grade orientation will be held on July 29th. There will be an open house held at all the schools on August 2nd. Times on these open houses vary depending on the school. To see these times, get school supply lists and all other back to school information check out the Gilmer Chamber’s “Let’s Go Back to School” page.

Remember that the library welcomes donations of gently read books and magazines. Those that the library does not need come to the Bookshelf, with all the proceeds benefiting the library.  Do not forget to visit the “back room” of the Bookshelf for newly stocked non-fiction and magazines.

The Lego Plus Crew

GCGSI Monthly Meeting

Leslie Thomas, President of the Georgia Trail of Tears Association and Gilmer History Center,  will speak about the collection of sketches and writings from Dr. Charles O. Walker’s travels to Oklahoma in search of the evidence of homesteads and old towns that had been settled by the Eastern Band of Cherokees

 

 

 

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Calling all fans of sci-fi and the supernatural.  The Bookshelf is featuring a huge collection of sci-fi books, many of which are unread. You will also find a nice selection of unusual books on the supernatural.

Look at the “last chance” shelves where our inventory of half-priced books is restocked weekly.  You can put your payment for these books in the donations box if the Bookshelf is closed.
